I have to say I am happy we have more choices for healthy eating, especially for those with autoimmune diseases. I was happy to find a dairy-free ice cream sweetened with my choice of sweeteners. When I want a treat, I expect it to be a tasty one. I assume since it made it to the store shelves, it was taste tested for flavor. Wow was I wrong! Below is an example of what I had to add to make it flavorful.

Flavoring For Tasteless Dairy-free Ice Cream

Pint sugar-free, coconut milk Ice Cream
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Sprinkle pure stevia, to taste
Sprinkle salt, to taste

In a medium mixing bowl soften ice cream. Add sweeteners and salt. Blend with hand mixer. Scoop ice cream back into container.

Do you ever wonder:   Why are most packaged health foods tasteless? Since these healthier foods are usually more expensive, we expect the flavor to be there as well.  I have to say, that is one reason I needed to write a cookbook for my low-glycemic sweets and write my blog for autoimmune diseases so we can enjoy the same great taste we had with classic favorites. If you would like to purchase my revised book, please visit my website on: www.treatyourhealth.today

I say, bring taste back again!
